Printer Does Not Print

All lights are off
Lights came on, then went out
Only the power light is on
Error light is flashing or on
Error light is on and power light is flashing

If the printer does not print, see if the status of your printer's lights is listed below, then try the solutions listed.

All lights are off

Try one or more of these solutions:

Press the power button to make sure that the printer is on.

Turn off the printer and make sure that the power cord is securely plugged in.

Make sure that your outlet works and is not controlled by a wall switch or timer.

Lights came on, then went out

The printer's voltage may not match the outlet rating. Turn off the printer and unplug it immediately. Then, check the printer labels.

If the voltage does not match, DO NOT PLUG YOUR PRINTER BACK IN. Contact your dealer.

Only the power light is on

Try one or more of these solutions:

Turn off the printer and computer. Make sure that the printer's interface cable is securely plugged in.

Make sure that there is no packing material in the printer.

Turn off the printer and the computer, disconnect the printer's interface cable, and then print an operation check page.

If the check page prints correctly, make sure that the printer software and your application are installed correctly.

If you are trying to print a large image, your computer may not have enough memory to print. Try printing a smaller image.

Users of Windows Me, 98, and 95 can clear any stalled print jobs from the spool manager.
Using EPSON Spool Manager.

If you are using Windows NT 4.0, try uninstalling the EPSON Printer Port. Click Start, point to Programs, then to EPSON Printers, and then click EPSON Printer Port Uninstall. Follow the on-screen instructions.

If the printer sounds like it is trying to print, but is unable to, run the Head Cleaning utility.

If this does not work, replace the ink cartridges.

Error light is flashing or on

Check EPSON Status Monitor 3 (Windows) or EPSON StatusMonitor (Macintosh) to find the cause of the error, and then try one or more of these solutions:

If the paper out light is on and there is no paper in the printer, load paper into the sheet feeder.

If the ink out light is flashing, the ink supply is low. Obtain a replacement cartridge of the appropriate type. To determine which cartridge is low, see Replacing an Empty Ink Cartridge.

If the ink out light is on and the ink cartridge is empty, replace the appropriate ink cartridge. To determine which ink cartridge is empty, see Replacing an Empty Ink Cartridge.

Error light is on and power light is flashing

Follow the steps below.

Press the paper button, and then remove any paper in the printer.

Turn the printer off. Check for and remove any foreign objects or pieces of paper from inside the printer. Also make sure that there is sufficient space around the vent on the back of the printer to allow proper ventilation. Remove any objects blocking the vent. Then, turn the printer back on.

Note:

If you cannot remove a foreign object easily by yourself, do not use force and do not disassemble the printer. Call your dealer for assistance.
