Using the Start Button
Overview of the Start Button Features
You can open EPSON Scan, start scanning, and have the scanned image sent to a specific application, simply by pressing the Start button on your scanner. To use this feature, you need to install Start button compatible software and then set up the scanner's Start button. When you press the a Start button, the following event occurs:

On Windows NT 4.0, this feature is not available; no application starts when you press the Start button. However, Windows NT 4.0 users can use this feature when performing network scanning. Refer to Network Scanning Procedure for details.

Starts EPSON Scan as a standalone application.
(This is the default setting for Windows XP, 2000, Me, and 98 users only)

Opens an application of your choice, or scans and sends the scanned document to a specified Start button-compatible application.
(Available for Windows XP, 2000, Me, and 98 users only)

If you are operating your scanner over a network, you may not use the scanner's Start button in the ways described above. Refer to Network Scanning Procedure for details about network scanning.
