Using the Reference Guide
Refer to the appropriate section below for the minimum and recommended computer system requirements necessary to use this printer.
To use your printer, you need to have Microsoft® Windows® XP, Me, 98, or 2000 installed.
USB connection:
To connect your printer via a standard, shielded USB 1.1 cable, you need a Windows XP, 98, or 2000 pre-installed PC equipped with a USB port. For Windows Me users, your PC must be a Windows Me pre-installed model or upgraded from a Windows 98 pre-installed model. To use the USB 2.0 cable, you need a Windows XP or 2000 Pre-installed PC equipped with a USB 2.0 port.
If you want to connect your printer to a IEEE 1394 port, you need a Windows XP, Me, or 2000 pre-installed PC equipped with a IEEE 1394 port and the printer must be connected via a shielded IEEE 1394 cable.
Your computer should also meet the following system requirements.

To connect this printer to Apple® Macintosh® computers, you must use a USB cable.

In addition to these system and memory requirements, you need 20 MB of free hard disk space to install your printer software. To print, you also need extra hard disk space amounting to about twice the size of the file that you want to print.
