Aligning the Print Head

For Windows users
For Macintosh users
Using the control panel buttons

If you notice misalignment of vertical lines, you may be able to solve this problem from your computer using the Print Head Alignment utility in your printer software. Refer to the appropriate section below.

For Windows users

Follow the steps below to align the print head using the Print Head Alignment utility.

Check that no warnings or errors are displayed on the LCD panel.

Make sure that A4 or Letter size plain paper is loaded in the sheet feeder.

Access the printer software.
Accessing the Printer Software for Windows

Click the Maintenance tab, then click the Print Head Alignment button.

Follow the on-screen instructions to align the print head.

For Macintosh users

Follow the steps below to align the print head using the Print Head Alignment utility.

Check that no warnings or errors are displayed on the LCD panel.

Make sure that A4 or Letter size plain paper is loaded in the sheet feeder.

For users of Mac OS, 8.6 or 9.x, access the printer software, click the  Utility icon button, and then click the Print Head Alignment button.

For users of Mac OS X, double-click the EPSON Printer Utility icon in the Applications folder in Macintosh HD (the default hard disk name), select your printer, click OK in the Printer List window, and then click the Head Alignment button in the Utility dialog box.

Follow the on-screen instructions to align the print head.

Using the control panel buttons

Follow the steps below to align the print head using the control panel buttons.

Check that no warnings or errors are displayed on the LCD panel.

Press the maintenance button.

Press button to position the cursor at Print Head Alignment and press the Select button.

Follow the instructions displayed on the LCD panel.

From the alignment pattern in set #1 on the printed test sheet, choose the vertical line that is aligned best. Press the or button to select the corresponding line number and press the Select button.

Repeat step 5 for the alignment patterns in sets #2 and #3.

Press the Custom 1 button to finish.
