Using the Error Indicators

You can identify many common printer problems using the lights on the control panel. If your printer stops working and one or more control panel lights are on or flashing or the printer beeps, use the following table to diagnose and fix the problem. If you cannot fix your problem using this table, see Problems and Solutions.
Note:
The printer beeps once if you press a control panel button when the corresponding function is not available.

PR2 mode

There is no paper loaded in the slot.
Load a paper into the front slot.
Paper is not loaded correctly.
Remove the paper and reload it correctly. See Loading Passbooks, or Loading Single Sheets.
Paper is not fully ejected.
See Clearing a Paper Jam for instruction on ejecting paper.
Paper is jammed in the printer.
To clear the paper jam, see Clearing a Paper Jam.

The printer cover is open.
Stop the operation and close the printer cover.

The print head is overheated.
Wait for a few minutes; the printer resumes printing automatically once the print head cools.
The printer is set to laminated card mode.
If the inserted paper is not a laminated card, the paper may not be set correctly. In this case, set the paper again. Also, if the printer is set to laminated card mode, printing, magnetic stripe reading/writing, and magnetic ink character reading are not possible.

An unknown printer error has occurred.
Turn off the printer and leave it off for several minutes; then turn on the printer again. If the error recurs, contact your dealer.
