Configuring Printer Port
Using EpsonNet Print (for Windows)
EpsonNet Print is a utility program that provides peer-to-peer printing to Epson devices on the TCP/IP network. Using EpsonNet Print, you can find a device located in the same segment or beyond a router. EpsonNet Print automatically uses the printer’s IP address if it is changed with the server’s or router’s DHCP function.
EPSON Network Utility is a program that provides utility functions for the printer driver on a network.
Note:|
If you assign a printer port for your printer using by EpsonNet Print in DHCP environment, you can set IP address setting to Auto because the computer can identify the printer.
EpsonNet Print or EPSON Network Utility are automatically installed when the network is configured using EpsonNet Setup.

Installing the network utility
Note:|
To install on Windows XP, log on as an administrative user.
|

Make sure that the printer is turned on.
|
 |
Insert the software CD-ROM into the computer’s CD-ROM drive.
|

Select Software List.
|
Note:|
If the installation screen does not automatically appear in Windows, double-click the CD-ROM icon in Computer (or My Computer).

Select EpsonNet Print or EPSON Network Utility, and then click OK.
|

Follow the on-screen instructions.

Adding a printer port
Follow the steps below to add a port using the Add Printer Wizard.
Note:|
Make sure that the computer is connected to the network and the TCP/IP is correctly set.
A valid IP address must be assigned to the network interface.

Adding a port for a device assigned with a dynamic IP address
|
For Windows 7: Click Start and then Devices and Printers. Click Add a printer to start the Add Printer wizard.
|
For Windows Vista: Click the Start button, Control Panel, and then Printer. Click Add a printer to start the Add Printer wizard.
For Windows XP: Click Start and then Printers and Faxes. Under Printer Tasks, click Add a printer to start the Add Printer Wizard. Click Next.

For Windows 7/Vista: Click Add a local printer. Select the Create a new port radio button, and then select EpsonNet Print Port from the list. Click Next.
|
For Windows XP: Click Local printer attached to this computer, clear the Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer checkbox, and then click Next. Select the Create a new port radio button, and then select EpsonNet Print Port from the list. Click Next.
Note:|
If the Firewall alert screen appears, click the Unblock button, and then click the Search Again button to search the devices.

Select the target device, and then click Next.
|
Note:|
If the target device is not in the list, click the Search Again button to search the devices using new parameters.
Each column can be sorted in ascending or descending order by clicking the column header. However, Manual Setting is always displayed at the top of the list regardless of sorting.
If you want to search devices in other segments, click the N/W Settings button. Select the Specific Network Segments checkbox, and then enter the network address and subnet mask of the network segment for the search. Then click the Add button.You can also specify Time Before Declaring Communication Error.

Confirm the information on the device’s port you want to configure, and then click Finish.

Port Type
|
The following items are listed in the pull-down menu, and you can select the port type you need.
IP Address (Auto): Configure the port automatically. If the IP address of the device is acquired automatically and the computer and the device are in the same segment, you can select this port type.
IP Address (Manual): Use the device’s IP Address for the port name.
HostName (DNS): Use the device’s host name registered in the DNS server for the port name.
MS Network: Use the NetBIOS name registered in the device for the port name.

Port Information

The following items are displayed:
- Port Name (automatically assigned according to the selected port type.) - Printer Model - Host Name or IP Address (automatically assigned according to the selected port type) - Protocol

Finish button
|
Register the port information to the system and close the Add EpsonNet Print Port Wizard.

Back button
|
Go back to the device list window.
|

Cancel button
|
Close the Add EpsonNet Print Port Wizard.

The new printer port is created in your computer. To install the printer driver, see Using the Printer from a Second Computer.
Adding a port for a device assigned with a static IP address

For Windows 7: Click Start and then Devices and Printers. Click Add a printer to start the Add Printer wizard.

For Windows Vista: Click the Start button, Control Panel, and then Printer. Click Add a printer to start the Add Printer wizard.
For Windows XP: Click Start and then Printers and Faxes. Under Printer Tasks, click Add a printer to start the Add Printer Wizard. Click Next.

For Windows 7/Vista: Click Add a local printer. Select the Create a new port radio button, and then select EpsonNet Print Port from the list. Click Next.

For Windows XP: Click Local printer attached to this computer, clear the Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer checkbox, and then click Next. Select the Create a new port radio button, and then select EpsonNet Print Port from the list. Click Next.

Select Manual Setting from the list, and then click Next.

Enter the device’s name and the port name is automatically entered to the Port Name edit box. Then click Next.

Confirm the information about the device’s port you want to configure, and then click Finish.

Configuring the printer port
Follow the steps below to configure the printer port. The printing speed differs depending on your selection.

For Windows 7: Click Start and then Devices and Printers.
|
For Windows Vista: Click the Start button, Control Panel, and then Printer.
For Windows XP: Click Start, then Printers and Faxes.
|
Right-click the target device, and then click Printer properties (7) or Properties (Vista/XP).
|
|
Click the Ports tab, and then click the Configure Port button.
|
|
Make the appropriate settings for the desired port.
|
LPR enhanced printing: Select the LPR Printing radio button, and then specify the queue name (up to 32 characters). LPR enhanced printing sends a print job to the target network device without spooling all of the print data. LPR enhanced printing is faster than LPR standard printing.
LPR standard printing: Select the Confirm file size check box, and specify the queue name (up to 32 characters). Print data is spooled by the computer before being sent to the target network device.
Note:|
When the print data size exceeds 20 MB, we recommend that you use LPR enhanced printing.

High-Speed printing: Select the High-Speed Printing (RAW) radio button. The Epson high-speed printing port sends a print job to the target network device without spooling all of the print data. High-speed printing is faster than the other two printing methods.

Click OK.

Setting Up Using WSD (for Windows 7/Vista)
The printer supports Windows Vista Web Services on Devices (WSD). This section explains how to set up the network-connected printer using WSD.
Note:|
To set up the printer/scanner with WSD, the computer and printer must be connected to the network.
You must install the driver before setting up the printer/scanner with WSD.

Verify that the printer is turned on.
|
|
For Windows 7: Click Start, Computer, and then Network.
|
For Windows Vista: Click Start and then Network.
|
Right-click the printer icon, then click Install.
|
Click Continue in the User Account Control dialog box.
Note:|
The icon shows the network printer name (e.g., EPSONXXXXXX (your printer name)). The printer name can be confirmed on the printer’s control panel or a network status sheet. For details on confirming on the control panel or printing a network status sheet, see Setting up Printer LAN Using the Control Panel.
If Uninstall appears instead of Install, click Uninstall once and retry.

Click Your devices are ready to use.
|

Check the screen on the right and click Close.

For Windows 7: Click Start and then Devices and Printers.

Verify that an icon with the network printer name (e.g., EPSONXXXXXX (your printer name)) is added.

To print using WSD, select the printer by its network printer name.
Note:|
To use the scanner function with WSD, use Windows Fax and Scan or Paint in Windows Vista.
The scanner name selected with Windows Fax and Scan or Paint in Windows 7/Vista is the same as the network printer name.
