Maintenance
Before transporting the scanner over a long distance or storing it for an extended period, you need to lock the scanner's carriage to prevent damage. Follow the steps below.

| Plug in the scanner and wait until the carriage moves to the home position (position nearest the buttons). When the indicator light remains on (green), unplug the scanner. |
 | When you use the Perfection 1670 Photo or the optional document cover for the Perfection 1670, if the optional interface cable is attached, disconnect it. |
 | Turn the transportation lock to the locked position to secure the carriage. |
The transportation lock is located on the bottom of the scanner on the right side. To lock it, lift the scanner straight up and then slide the lock to the locked position.

 | Attach the protective materials and repack it in the original box. |
