You have to do the following steps in order to install iscan on Debian distribution:

1.) Download iscan-x.x.x.rpm , not the source tarball.
Then, trsnform rpm package in deb package

2.) alien -d iscan-1.5.0-6.i386.rpm
and finally, install the package on your system

3.) dpkg -i iscan-1.5.0-6.i386.deb (the resulting deb file from step 2)
