Important Notice

Before using your scanner, read the new information that supplements your User's Guide. Some functions are newly added and some are changed.

About Some Epson Scan Functions

Auto Area Segmentation
Auto Area Segmentation makes grayscale images clearer and text recognition more accurate by separating the text from the graphics. For details click the Help button of Home Mode, Office Mode, or Scan to PDF Settings dialog box.
Color Enhance
Color Enhance enhances red, green, or blue in the scan. For details click the Help button of Office Mode, Professional Mode, or Scan to PDF Settings dialog box.
Dropout
Dropout drops out red, green, or blue from the scan. For details click the Help button of Office Mode, Professional Mode, or Scan to PDF Settings dialog box.
PDF Plug-in Settings
EPSON PDF Plug-in Settings window is changed. For details click the Help button of EPSON PDF Plug-in Settings dialog box.
Scan to PDF Settings
Scan to PDF Settings window is changed. For details click the Help button of Scan to PDF Settings dialog box.
Text Enhancement
Text Enhancement enhances text recognition when scanning text documents. For details click the Help button of Home Mode, Office Mode, or Scan to PDF Settings dialog box.

About Your Scanning Software

Copy Utility
Method of starting Copy Utility is changed.
Windows: Select the start button or Start > Programs or All Programs > Epson Software > Copy Utility.
Mac OS X: Select Applications > Epson Software > Copy Utility, and double-click the Copy Utility icon.
Epson Creativity Suite and Epson File Manager
Epson Creativity Suite has been replaced with Epson Event Manager. You cannot start your scan from Epson File Manager. To assign a program to any of the scanner buttons, you can use Epson Event Manager.
Epson Event Manager
Epson Event Manager is now available.
You can assign any of the scanner buttons to open a program in Epson Event Manager to make scanning your projects even quicker.
If you need help using Epson Event Manager, do one of the following.
For Windows: Click the icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
For Mac OS X: Click Help, then Epson Event Manager Help.
Method of starting a scan with Epson Scan in Windows is changed. Double-click the EPSON Scan icon on the desktop. Or, select the start button icon or Start > All Programs or Programs > EPSON > EPSON Scan > EPSON Scan.

Uninstalling Your Scanning Software

To uninstall Epson software, except Epson Scan, see "Uninstalling the Epson Creativity Suite" section.

Macintosh System Requirements

Macintosh system requirements are changed to Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.
